about

While DMV-based hip hop producer and recording artist A.J. Throwback moved to Silver Spring, Maryland for familial reasons nearly five years ago, he spent the vast majority of his life shaped and molded by the often-maligned-and-underappreciated Ward 8 in Washington, D.C. When he lived in the Villages of Parkland for 7 1/2 years--particularly between 2010 and 2014--he began to find his groove, learn to listen to the sounds in his own head more often and lay down the foundation for his evolution as a music producer. As the first in a series of volumes containing mainly unused instrumentals, 'I Kinda Miss Southeast' is inspired by a blog post he made under his Dirk Scribbler alias where he talks about being nostalgic about his time spent in the quadrant which gave him a large amount of his identity.
