Temple Thrills

by A.J. Throwback

/
1.
(Verse 1 - A.J. Throwback) Kneeling at the temple of a false god (FALSE!) Not a wooden cow, just a boss broad (BOSS!) Branding me with crimson-colored kiss marks (MUAH!) Giggles turn to whispers, then it gets dark Convincing me that Heaven's just a little lower (A LITTLE LOWER!) This as she's undressing just a little slower (A LITTLE SLOWER!) Her pulpit's embedded in alluring skin Swearing if I'm dipped into her waters, I'll be born again In one ear: "I can help you with your backslide" Other ear: "Baby, don't you like my backside?" Right ear: "Son, you know I have a better plan" Left ear: "Hundred lovers you'll be better than" Getting difficult to hear a still small voice Over sexy moaning of a wrong choice Conned another convert, I'm feeling traitorous Being saved shouldn't ever feel this dangerous (Chorus - Michael Jahlil) Oh, I hear you saying the highest of places is at your feet But why do I feel like hell, knowing you don't feel bad for me I done made you my idol too long, so we must part ways ‘Cause I'm losing my soul tryna give you all my praise (Verse 2 - A.J. Throwback) So she pours a little Henny, little Pepsi in a short glass Sans rocks, sayin, "Tell me more of your past" Confession and reflection on rejection letters Knowing I'm a good dude, when's it getting better? But lost pudge, got taller, now their eyes work But have no idea how my mind works What I've seen is rather obscene Doubt they'd wanna be the objects in these odd dreams Downtown trips, where every street light's Got a green light and every pretty brown round's thick In hot pink heels, fishnets, mini-skirts Missing inhibitions, got my choice of any pretty flirt Cater-corner, pastor warning take the straight and narrow But walking straight's a hassle when their waists are narrow With luscious lickers and piercing peepers Star player scoring points with these cheering leaders Fear is weaker as the honey's leaking from her lips Drizzles in my ear, speaking tongues of bliss Climbs on me saying, "I can be your dream But only when you're in my temple can you be redeemed" (Chorus - Michael Jahlil) Oh, I hear you saying the highest of places is at your feet But why do I feel like hell, knowing you don't feel bad for me I done made you my idol too long, so we must part ways ‘Cause I'm losing my soul tryna give you all my praise (Verse 3 - A.J. Throwback) So as her long brown hair brushed strokes across the night sky She made me say goodbye to the nice guy (ADIOS!) But before I felt the highest high I've had in life Every worship is completed with a sacrifice I said, "Hmmm, I don't know what I can give" She responded with, "Start off with the places that you live (like) Dorm room, shower stalls, basement of your momma house Watching cartoons, gaining knowledge on your momma couch" But I gave a little more than what was asked Dressing rooms, sandy beaches, couple cars I could've crashed Soiree in the spring, special moments with my classmates Gave up half hours with my granny in her last days Days Nnns, Marriotts, Hiltons and Ramadas Couple thousand dollars had this devil wearing Prada Brushed off, even lost friends over nonsense All because of how i knew the tags in women's thongs read (IT’S SILK!) Gave up my computers and the VCRs Nickelodeons with harlots rarely needing bras Submitting leave to jobs just to see these broads Paying tickets off and I could be in park or even speed in cars But she would be at odds when I'd meet and greet with God Only when I needed did I sneak to even speak with God Too ashamed to walk up to that altar call Every shirt, couldn't get the lipstick on my collars off (COULDN’T DO IT!) Member of a church without a good book Pastor was a master fishing men, had a good hook (WATCH FOR THE HOOK!) I ain't saying I'm resolved overnight Just acknowledging I chose to see her wrongs over right All her darkness over light, her mirages over sight Got me with the booby trap, but her bra was overhyped As I said, "What we had, it felt great, can't erase past But you can't use my blood for your stained glass" (Chorus - Michael Jahlil) Oh, I hear you saying the highest of places is at your feet But why do I feel like hell, knowing you don't feel bad for me I done made you my idol too long, so we must part ways ‘Cause I'm losing my soul tryna give you all my praise Praise Praise Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mmmm
2.
(Verse) I often wonder 'bout you, beyond libidinous admiration What’s your former dream? Was it a business aspiration? Venture capital, stocks and bonds Your Wall Street ambition rose with 9 o'clock alarms Or litigation in the meanest pair of Louboutins Devil’s advocate without Keanu losing wits Maybe pediatric medicine and soothing kids In lieu of this, you let your momentary dad be deadbeat, lose his kids As you're numb to the monotony, washing these sloppily Bodily fluids probably bottled for about a week Hot commodity, several spots atop commonly Money shot has gotta be, jagged edge? Watch your teeth As I concoct an option that would top the scene Topless dream? That and not you watching him, but watching me Versus Red Roof Inns, we hit the Doubletree Hit a couple trees as you chuckle when your bubble's squeezed A born sucker for the nectar of a Southern peach Best poetry I love to speak is often muffled speech Then you trouble me with all your little subtleties So good, I utter, "Baby love, can we cuddle please?” Mascara, sweat, brown liquor stains How often have our weekends only led to wicked games? While some nights are just fun, period Others cum furious, but done and quickly, I become serious Morose at all the times we cut it close Come to loathe what a few ticks ago I loved the most While you freshen up with warm wash cloths, Dove soap, cup of Scope I'm reminded how my lust was cutthroat So self-absorbed, knowing I am spoken for High percentage shot of being caught if someone opens doors Evidence of a separatist: Scott tissues and regrets Followed by a slew of expletives and she don't have Tourette's Or that small voice of reason Who never guilts me for my tall choice of treason But tried to tell me since my teens, "All these scenes seem to grab your attention But’ll haunt you when the one We have asks for affection Not to mention, your soul endures such unnecessary pain Forging unions, only good at being Mary Jane Gateways to their demons, more drama Is it really worth trading their physiques for your honor?" I've pondered and I've prayed, abstained and I've resisted But still wanna hit, a different Molly’s my addiction An uphill battle in the fight for self-control Is even more asinine when that don't help the goal Never got it, could a tell a woman "no" who’s in my face But struggle putting Cyberhottie Molly in her place Yeah But struggle putting Cyberhottie Molly in her place, unh (Chorus) Molly’s on the prowl for a good time Looking for some trouble? That you should find Lap dancing on your laptop, smartphone Make you tune out the whole world with her charm, homes MDMA in her recipe And she just wanna take you straight to ecstasy But she don’t wanna talk, console yourself Hit and quit, to the next, while you’re left to hold yourself

about

Continuing the connection to 'The Late Bloomer' series, the "Temple Thrills" two-pack single goes where no other two songs in my entire catalog have gone before: the dark sides of my sexuality. Whereas the A-side talks about the influences leading to my numerous sacrifices for the sake of sex, the B-side candidly details expands on one of those sacrifices specifically common to many men.
