When DMV-based hip hop producer and recording artist A.J. Throwback moved to Silver Spring, Maryland for familial reasons in 2014, he also made the tough decision of leaving the city which raised him (Washington, D.C.) and the area which lent him the biggest part of his edge (Ward 8). After taking the advice of an engineer and purchasing "studio-ready" music equipment in 2005, the next eight years were part of a creative roller coaster between the lows of falling into the trends of the time and the highs of discovering the now-recognizable "Throwback" sound. Continuing the inspiration from a blog post under his Dirk Scribbler alias, 'I Kinda Miss Southeast 2' expands the musical narrative of A.J.'s life to the years between 2006 before he moved to Parklands and 2013 before he left the city.
